The Dance Center - offering a B.A or B.F.A in Dance

 

The Dance Center was established in 1969 to house Columbia College Chicago's Dance Department. Early in its history, all the diverse elements of the art were developed within The Dance Center's program. As a complete dance environment, it offers a full range of activities designed to enhance and expand the quantity and quality of dance available in Chicago and the Midwest.

The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago is: 1) the only complete instructional program in the Chicago area leading to a BA or BFA in Dance; 2) Chicago's leading presenter of contemporary dance of national and international significance; 3) home of Mordine & Company Dance Theatre, Chicago's longest running modern dance company; 4) home to a popular guest artist in-residence series that includes instruction to professionals, pre-professionals, and the community-at-large; 5) home to a significant educational and community outreach program; 6) the region's leading continuing education center offering special programs to encourage the development of professional dancers and choreographers; and 7) an affordable rental facility that supports the presentation of local self-producing artists in a preeminent performance space, aesthetically unrivaled and technically suited to the art of dance.
