Salsa Vida: The Sahara Club

 

Jaime and Jacqui have been dancing salsa for eight years and teaching salsa for five years, mainly in Lewisham. They have developed their classes and incorporate all salsa styles into their routines.

JaimeJaime is from Chile, he brings South American charm, style and authenticity to the classes. Growing up in Chile, Jaime was surrounded by the beat of Cumbia, Boleros and folk music, but Salsa has become his most popular dance form.

Jacqui is English and has been teaching all styles of dance in the community. She has completed many dance courses, including African, tap, jazz, tango and contemporary. Jacqui enjoys being the resident salsa DJ at the Sahara Club, and has a huge repertoire of popular salsa music. Her passion for salsa music inspires everyone.

As dance teachers, they are relaxed and compliment each other perfectly, teaching salsa from both a male and female point of view.

They bring a lot of humour into their classes, helping the dancers to feel less inhibited. They believe that a salsa club should not be intimidating in any way for new salseros, and they encourage beginners to experience the whole culture of salsa by joining their salsa club.
