Julia Chacón started as a serious classical ballet dancer and discovered flamenco while branching out into character dance at age 13. She first studied Spanish dance under Phoenix’s Lydia Torea and was mesmerized by the fiery passion of flamenco. It wasn’t long before she began sharing the stage with Artes Bellas Spanish Dance Company as a corps performer. In addition to performing, Chacón teaches flamenco history and dance classes, and has written for FlamencoUSA Publication, a magazine dedicated to fostering support of flamenco in the United States.
