contra-tiempo :: dancers, actors and LA community

 

contra-tiempo is a performance company of dancers, actors and members of the Los Angeles community, interested in creating bold and compelling work that sparks social change and uplifts our audience, with Salsa and the clave as our primary tools. We have several large-scale performance pieces as well as community arts workshops for adults and young people that we have presented and continue to present in and around Los Angeles. We recently completed our first New York tour, where we were invited to present and lead community workshops with various groups and organizations in mid to late August. In our performances, we use Salsa to intertwine our words, movements, video, music, and relationships with one another, expressing the complexity of resistance and struggle for Latinos and working class communities in the U.S.
