Home BioABOUT THE ACADEMY
Biography: Jorge Luis is the founder and director of the Tango Academy of Pasadena. His teaching is rooted in the traditions of the neighborhood of the barrio Balvanera-Congreso in the city of Buenos Aires where he was born, raised and educated. His dance is inspired primarily by his family whose tango legacy as well as their love for thoroughbred race horses, closely related to the tango culture, was passed onto him and it became an extension of himself, a way of life, indeed.
Jorge Luis was educated and trained within the performing arts since a very early age.
Tango Academy of Pasadena Philosophy: The Academy was founded in 1996, aiming primarily at educating and teaching the very essence of the true Tango de Buenos Aires.
As an educator, Jorge Luis leads his students through the path of recognition of the truth within themselves as a part of their journey towards freedom, which is the uncompromised step prior to reach completeness as a tango dancer. "Authentic Argentine Tango, Milonga, Candombe and Vals" is taught exclusively by Argentine instructors, who will introduce you to what makes Argentine Tango a sublime expression of art. "Beginner, Intermediate, Intermediate-Advanced and Advanced" levels offered by the Tango Academy of Pasadena prioritize on musicality, interaction and communication between partners. The intention of the dance, character and individuality in concept, interpretation of the music, redefinition of corporal expression, is taught at the academy.
This program emphasizes not on predictable steps and figures, nor just on learning how to dance, but in a much broader spectrum of concepts that this art form known as the Argentine Tango has to offer. The student learns to Tango. Argentine Tango is a language to be spoken through your emotions. Once the student immerses himself in the language of tango, the transformation begins.
